Three mothers found hip-hop dancing as their common bond and way to alleviate their personal frustrations.
You can hear the thumping tempo of Janet Jackson’s hip hop beat before you even reach the dance studio at the Sid Jacobson JCC in Roslyn. Through the door, three women stomp on the hardwood floors, arms thrashing, hips popping, faces contorted in sexy smiles and growling grimaces. They glide across the floor, moving together and apart, as sleek as cats one moment, then filled with the energy of hot oil bouncing off a saucepan the next. Look closely and you’ll see that these are not some teenagers getting their groove on, but a trio of fortysomething women who are perfecting a dance they will be publicly performing in venues around the tristate area. Meet Barb Adler, Audrey Feiner and Susan Estep, otherwise known as Momz-N-Da Hood.

Relationships
Learn to evaluate the requests for your time and get some tips so you can avoid becoming overcommitted.
No matter what your situation, chances are you can probably relate to a scenario like this: Short on time, you’ve skipped the gym and are preparing for a work presentation when your church leaves a message asking you to chair a committee. This reminds you that you need to think of and buy a classroom gift for your daughter’s teacher. Later, tired and relieved you’ve nearly completed your to-do list, you remember the envelopes you promised the PTA you’d stuff by tomorrow. It’s no wonder you might snap at your family, mumble under your breath with every envelope grudgingly stuffed and wonder how on earth you got here. Many experts say you should vividly remember your frustration the next time you receive a fresh batch of requests for your time.
