Stress, Dr. Snyderman feels, has become the silent killer of women. “We know that women are under more stress than ever. Stress leads to higher blood pressure, stress hormones and obesity. We reach for fat and carbs when we are stressed. Stress leads to depression. Stress is not only psychologically damaging when it’s unrelenting but it is physically damaging,” according to Dr. Snyderman. “Women are nurturers, but we put ourselves on the back burner since we are biologically wired to nurture.”
