As I matured, I had to deal with those things that go along with maturity. I always considered myself a pretty intelligent person, but until the inevitable started to happen (like menopause), I started realizing that I didn’t know as much as I thought I knew.

Beauty
It’s time to lighten up! Clothes, diet and makeup all change for the warmer weather, and this article can help you clean out your makeup bag. Cosmetics expire just like food; however, there are no regulations enforcing guidelines for safety.
Should any change in the scent of the product be apparent, take this as one of the first signs that a product has gone bad. Also, look for change in consistency or color. If you’ve had the product for more than one year and have not used it, throw it out and get a new one, just to be safe.
Book Corner
Imagine walking out of your home one morning and discovering a window to another time. New York Times writer Lily Koppel had such an incredible experience, and our columnist Debbi Honorof spoke to her about it. Stumbling upon old steamer trunks and finding a diary led Koppel to track down the owner. The compelling story, from the 1930s in New York City to now, is captured in Koppel’s book The Red Leather Diary.
Writing [the book], I had the rare privilege of being an actress, taking on the role of Florence … As I walked around New York, wrapped in my tangerine bouclé coat from Bergdorf’s (found in one of the trunks alongside the diary), I wondered what happened to Florence? … I read everything I could … that she was reading at the time and about New York during the Depression, which has really become a parallel world to ours today.
Health
Summer is a natural time to be more active, but are you sure you are wearing the proper shoe for the activity? According to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, 90 percent of all foot surgeries are performed on women. You’ll learn this and much more in this article focusing on the fit of athletic shoes.
The biggest mistake women make when buying athletic shoes is not getting their feet measured. “Foot size tends to increase as we get older due to some flattening and widening.”
