Beauty
Laser skincare have become less invasive, less expensive and more mainstream as doctors have learned more about this type of treatment. In her article, “Letting Your Skin See the Light: Laser Skincare Goes Mainstream” Celeste Perron breaks down the types of treatments—what type of skin conditions are treatable with lasers, what to expect after the treatment and how much it will cost you.
You may think laser treatments are only an option for the rich and idle, women who can afford to drop the price of a small car in the derm’s office, then hole up at home for a week while they wait for their red and tender faces to heal. But these treatments have become cheaper and more effective than you probably realize.

Health
Eating disorders are not limited to young girls or young women. Diseases such as anorexia and bulimia are also common in older women, and help is out there. In her article, Eating Disorders at Midlife” Michelle Levine talks about the disorders as well as gives resources for assistance in overcoming both.
Have you heard anything lately about a woman in her forties struggling with bulimia? Anything about an 80-year-old being diagnosed as an anorexic? You might soon hear a lot more about this phenomenon – especially because it is not a phenomenon at all. A 2001 study by Weill College of Medicine at Cornell University found that from 1988 to 1998, the number of women in their forties hospitalized for eating disorders doubled, accounting for approximately 9 percent of all eating disorders admissions.
My Turn
In “Married and Sleeping Alone: Separation Brought Us Together” Kay Hogan shares her experience of being in a happy and successful 29-year marriage, while she and her husband sleep in separate bedrooms.
